Oops, another late post. Meant to publish this in September when I went to the sale on September 15th 2018.

As you may have noticed, I do not go to as many samples sales as I have done in the past. Lately, I just go to the ones where I know I can score nice deals or just to pick up some closet staples. I haven't been to a Rodarte SS in a while but that one time I did, I picked up $10 collab shoes (which I wore once and resold for $75, super soft tees I also resold and a hoodie I still wear to this day. They host a sale once a year and skipped one last year I believe. As always, you have to RSVP and then they tell you the location of the sale via email. This year, I was aiming to arrive an hour before the sale started at 10 a.m.  on a Saturday morning. In the past, the lines were long and painstaking long. You also want to be one of the first ones to enter so you can find the limited deals. 

I arrived maybe around 9:15 a.m. and to my surprise, I was first in line. There were only 3 of us when doors opened at 10 a.m.. This sale definitely lost its popularity.

Every year I try to do a gift guide/holiday wishlist but it's more like a list of things I already bought or want to buy for myself. I don't like recommending things I haven't tried or at least have read good reviews about.

Here's a sample sale I haven't shared before! Since before I was pregnant, I have attended this sample sale in hopes of picking up tiny gifts for expecting mothers. It was always so sweet to pick up tiny adult outfits and picturing it on a little human body. Now that I have my own baby girl, it's time to dress her up and the Bonpoint sample sale is a good place to pick up something special for your little one. Here, you'll find Spring/Summer collections up to 60% off. There's always a line for this sale so we suggest to leave the strollers (they are not allowed anyway) or simply leave your kids out of this and shop in peace!

The sample sale is happening tomorrow and runs through Thursday at the Metropolitain Pavilion.

Oh hello! It's me and alive! 

Oh you know, just busy with the usual stuff..baby, work and being lazy (but forcibly can't be lazy because I have a baby, work, adult responsibilities). I have been doing some shopping for my new job and I want to share my purchases with you soon. My go-to have been Everlane, Kit and Ace and now looking at MM Lafleur. I honestly rarely buy clothes at full price but I did it this time because I was very particular about my new work wardrobe.

It's been a while but I wanted to write about the Aquatalia sample sale before it ends (ends this Sunday). I attended the sale on the first day so stock was a plenty. As time is now of an essence, I knit pick which sales I go to and I did not want to miss this one. I believe it's the first Aquatalia sample sale in NYC, that I know of anyway.

Hey! A new sample sale post! So rare now but I had to shop this one because it's my favorite "sample sale" ever.  It's not a real sample sale though. Story is a retail concept store that sells merchandise through evolving themes every month or two; so they load off an enormous amount of inventory during these sample sales and people go crazy for it. I was surprised when I got an email about it because I thought we would have to wait another year before their next one. The other surprise was also they were doing it at their store location and not in their office which was a pain to get to. The sale is usually 50% off everything with some 'as marked' items as well. Around this time of the year (well, more the time right before Christmas), there are good holiday shopping promotions floating around where the usual suspects offer mild discounts to get people to buy. That is the time most people shop for others but if you want to shop for yourself, you would want to wait until after Christmas to get the best deals.

This year Kit and Ace shared something pretty good that you didn't want to pass on. Over the holdiays, Kit and Ace offered a special $40 promotion via their newsletter and Instagram Stories to spend in stores only. All you needed to say was the secret word "Mistletoe" to get the offer.

Here's my gift guide but more like my own personal shopping list. Some things I have bought and some I will leave for others to enjoy.

Baby it's cold outside.

I tried these Kit and Ace mittens in the store and my hands were instantly warmed and even got sweaty. They are a bit big but they would be perfect in this subfreezing temperature and excellent for pushing strollers. It's unisex. I am waiting for it to go on sale.

nykeiko shops: The Row sample sale 2016 NYC

This is a late post about last week's The Row sample sale so it is more of a journal entry for future reference (with pictures of course!). This is probably the fourth sample sale I have attended this year. I know, shocking right? This is compared to my going on an average of 4-5 samples per month last year. I just don't have the time like I used to. Oh well. Maybe my new shopping game plan is to go on the last day of a sale which is usually on the weekend and additional markdowns are taking place. That's the reason I went to The Row sample sale. I went on the last day of the sale, just five hours before closing when they had just marked everything down.

I didn't think I would be checking out this sample sale. First off,Toms shoes definitely make my feet smell and so I vowed never to buy the classic flats again. Second, Dave and I already own S'well bottles although he doesn't know where his went. He got a bottle as a Christmas secret santa gift one year. That's how we found out about the brand and then I bought mine at one of S'well's first ever sample sale a couple of years ago, when the selection was only limited to one small table! I've wind down on sample sale reporting lately. Last month I covered Cosabella (report here) which is always a fun one but I never get anything because for the sake of comfort, I rather wear my granny panties then sexy lacy pieces . (Sorry husband!) I did however receive a free pair of thong so I still end up with something sexy which I SHOULD wear to feel human again. Lately nursing has made me feel like a milking cow. A feeling mutually shared amongst all breastfeeding mothers out there. Anyway, I do manage to escape for a couple of hours so I can do my own thing and sample sale shopping is still very much one of my job/hobbies. Here are two sales I hit up in March.

nykeiko shops: Sandro Sample Sale [October 2015 NYC Sample Sale]

Last night, I stopped by Sandro's sample sale. Here's my report for Racked NY. I took over 100+ pictures but really had to trim it down a bit. I liked all the jackets and coats offered in both men and women's section. Of course I don't need a new coat nor anything else so naturally came out empty handed. I always like Sandro's dresses. This past weekend, I stopped by Maje's sample sale with my sister on the last day where an additional 20% off was offered but of course, all the good stuff were gone. Sweaters were still $60 so I didn't go for it. There simply wasn't anything nice anymore anyway! Yay for the wallet.

nykeiko shops: French brand Maje Sample Sale is le back! [October 2015 NYC Sample Sale]

After my trip to Paris, I've walked in a couple of Maje and Sandro shops to see how the selection was. It didn't defer too much from NY's selection from what I can see but then again, I never shopped the collections too closely because the retail price never interested me. However, I covered Maje and Sandro's sample sales earlier this year and knew it would be best to save my pennies in Paris and wait for the sales to hit NYC. When I got back, I got the email about the Maje sample sale followed by the Sandro sample sale a week later, like clockwork. I didn't buy anything at the last sale since the prices weren't super decent but this time around, I might wait for some markdowns and grab a few sweaters or leggings if the prices are right.

We have been back for two weeks now from Europe but it feels like so far away already. Work was slow in the beginning but has now picked right back up but it's been a good kind of busy. I also make sure to keep myself busy outside of work. I try to swim at least twice a week and add a Vixen workout from time to time. I'm going to add yoga back into my life starting this Sunday. I'm also going to be covering more sample sales in October (that takes care of shopping). And just a couple of days ago, I signed up as a zombie dancer for the NYC Greenwich Halloween parade! For not being much of a Halloween person, this is tops for me. October is going to be a busy one!Anyway, when I come back home from any type of trip, I like to look at my shopping loot and reflect upon what I love most and what I definitely wasted my money on.

I'm back for less than a week and back to covering sample sales. The first one is 'Links of London'. Here's my report for Racked NY. Hoping I can snag some friendship bracelets as gifts but at $50-$75 a pop, I decided it wasn't worth it and came out empty handed. Some of the silver effervescent bracelets looked really nice on me but with no occasions to wear such shiny baubles, $300 for a bracelet seemed steep.

OH hello. It's me.

I checked out the Calypso St. Barth sample sale last night. Here's my report for Racked NY. Although I was underwhelmed with the selection, I walked away with a silky long wrap skirt and a short sleeve sweater. I was hoping to snatch up some furniture but everything was picked over by the time I got there. Oh well!

I always look forward to the Fivestory sample sale. Although I never ever walk out with anything, I just like to cover the sale to see what kind of clothes cool rich people like to buy and I would never have the chance to wear. I also get to see all these clothes from international brands I might have never heard of. Some of the clothes and shoes that are 80% can be affordable but most pieces are still priced pretty high even after the generous 80% off. Here's my report for Racked.

I stopped by the Proenza Schouler sample sale this morning before work to check out what I have been missing. I skipped the last two sample sales simply because it was never publicly announced and only lasted one day. This time, the sale being is hosted at C21 Edition for the first time and last for three days. This means a couple of things. 

nykeiko shops: Madewell Sample Sale [June 2015 NYC Sample Sale]

Madewell's first ever standalone sample sale happened and I checked out the friends and family portion last night. Here's my sale report on Racked NY. Prices were fair on some items while others made me question the discount. I'm well aware that J.Crew and Madewell sometimes have these extra discounts on their sale items (like, happening right now with additional 30% off sale for three days!) and I did find some of the items at the sample sale that are cheaper online (like accessories, shoes, coats and sweaters). Nonetheless, I still thought I did pretty okay with this super stretchy and comfy red true sample jersey dress with pockets for $30 and a pair of earphones for $10 (because I go through about one earphone a year).

nykeiko shops: Moleskine Sample Sale! $3 pocketbooks! [June 2015 NYC Sample Sale]

I dropped by the Moleskine sample sale today to stock up on pocket notebooks.  Here's my report on Racked which has more pictures and price deets. 

Notebooks start at $3 (orig. $15 after taxes). I'm old school and still write with pen and paper but I know I'm not the only one because when I told Laurie I picked up a notebook for her too, she was happy as it can be! I also picked up a black photo album for $5. And on your way out, you can pick up a free notebook with purchase (these have corporate logos on them) but I picked up a medium notebook with a very subtle logo so it's as good as new. Total of my purchase: $13 - for 4 notebooks and 1 photo album.

nykeiko shops: Rebecca Taylor Sample Sale [June 2015 NYC Sample Sale]

I checked out Rebecca Taylor's sample sale last night. I try not to miss this one because of the good deals on samples and jewelry. Last time I got this solid rose gold necklace for $30 + 20% off (vip night)! I was hoping to find great deals on jewelry again for a gift but there were no necklaces spotted. Sometimes, previews don't always get you the special deals. I tried on a top and jumpsuit but decided not to purchase. Here's my report for Racked.
