These are one of those hats where people would ask...hey, where did ya get that? So funky cool. I don't know if it's for me but I love the patterns. This one is from Of A Kind. Get it before they sell out forever!

nykeiko shops (sorta): Of-a-Kind HQ One day- Edition Substraction Sale[July 2014 NYC]

Of a Kind has opened the doors to their headquarter today from 1-9 pm for a one-of-a-kind 'Of-a-Kind' sale. Everything is 50-70% off past editions. I am a fan and have purchased many items from the site since their humble beginnings (Like this Erica Weiner bracelet, a pair of Mociun earrings, a Rachel Nasvik bag, Dusen Dusen cutout pillows and a Wren sequined pocket tee.) I manage to always purchase items when there is a sale but it is always around 15%-30% off and never 50%-70%. So, this is an awesome sale to check out if you are seeking limited edition,made-with-love, quality goods!

Since this is a one-day sale only, I won't review the sale but just give a peek at what was offered. Lots of jewelry for sure and cute bags too. I want to thank my husband who went (he works on the same block) and took all these pictures for me since I was so curious at the offerings. Nothing really stood out for me except for the cute Morus backpack by Skinny Vinny but I don't need more bags for sure, for sure (for sure?)

And then, lots of shiners to oblige people to look at your ear lobes...

Project Pop Up New York City- Of a kind- Story - drinks with White Pike Whiskey [Events]

First-of- a-kind program! Project Pop Up NYC- at Story. 

The second event of the night was held at Story, a permanent 2000 square foot 'pop-up' store located right by the High Line in Chelsea. Best described on their website: "STORY is a retail space that has the point of view of a magazine, changes like a gallery and sells things like a store.Every four to eight weeks, STORY will change out all its merchandise, design, fixtures and reinvent the store around a different story-based theme". Cool, non?

We were there to celebrate with Of A Kind as they were one of the winners of Project Pop-Up NYC which allowed them to sell their goodies at 100% profit in the store alongside other great innovative New York-based businesses including 2 other retailers and 8 technology companies.

One of the treats of the night was not only seeing the merchandises in person, meeting the designers although I think they should have had a name tag or something to let us know who they were but also drinking the free drinks provided by White Pike Whiskey. They offered three types of drinks on the house and the most memorable one for me was the Pickelback shots (A shot of Whiskey followed by pickle brine). Lamso hyped it up for me since she heard about it from a friend so we just had to try one. And let me tell you this, I rarely take straight up alki unless someone tells me that it's absolutely something to try. I have taken shots of pure alcohol (Everclear 95% strength alcohol- warned not to drink it straight) when I was a teenager because someone told me that I should try it at least once in my life. I survived because I was young but if I took that now, I might just pass out and not remember anything.

Anyway, so we took one shot and it hit me almost instantaneously but instead of feeling drunk, it felt almost like a high. It was great and my mouth already missed the taste of pickle brine but I knew I couldn't take another...for now. Usually, when I'm tipsy, I feel tired and sleepy but I felt a high. I told myself that It's got to be really good whiskey. As we were about to leave, we told ourselves that we had to take one last shot before leaving. I thought I would stumble around after that but it went down smoothly and I was tipsy but not sick. We both agreed that it was goddamn good alcohol we just had!

It is called the Confetti Squares Bracelet. Like a party on my arm. 14K gold-plated brass and there are 100 of a kind in the world.

To justify my purchase:

1. I can finally put my Daily Candy Deals voucher to good use!
2. I just broke a vintage bracelet from dancing too awesomely at a wedding over the weekend! It flew right off my wrist as I was dancing to some good oldies.

Hangin' in Williamsburg on the first week of Spring

 

Here I am hangin' in front of a big mural somewhere near Williamsburg bridge with my new bag I got from Of a Kind...It's so small that I can fit only the essentials but the perfect size because it is the total opposite of the huge bag I usually carry around which can hold a big fat baby pig if I wanted to. ..It sure weighs like one sometimes because I like to put a lot of things in it.

Wear your heart! Of a Kind- cute shirt!

This is a cute shirt by L.A.'s  'Laugh Cry Repeat" currently being sold on Of a Kind..I think that it's a super cute shirt. In fact, too cute for me to wear but I can see many girls pulling this cute look off.

 

I wish they used a different material for the heart..I think it would cling on better. I imagine the heart would wrinkle quite easily and look weird.

 I read more about the artist and the other previous heart tee creations and I wish I could have gotten my hand on that royal blue one
