I attended the ballet this weekend with a girl friend which we were both looking forward to for weeks. Both of us left our husband at home while we enjoyed an afternoon of ballet and good food. We scored some orchestra seats for $29 (but moved to the $135 seats right beside us) and it was the best purchase ever! We watched 3 of George Balanchine's pieces including 'Concerto Barocco', 'Kammermusik 2' and both our favorite, 'Who Cares?' with music by George Gershwin. What a treat! After the show, we went up to the first ring to check out french artist JR's project "Inside Out" featuring the 80 members of the NYCB. It was fun to see people interacting with the images on the floor. I was reluctant to jump in at first until my friend started lying on the floor and posing while I took some pictures.

Our treat didn't stop there when we went over to k-town to grab some korean dumplings at Mandoo Bar and coffee with fresh Korean fried doughnuts (Ho-dduks) with a side of vanilla ice cream at Grace Street.

The arts in NY

Lincoln Center plaza -nykeiko.com

I have a friend who is always going to the Opera or Ballet at the Lincoln Center in New York. He has a serious addiction (a good but expensive one) and has seen over....um...he doesn't know the number of shows he has seen because there has been too many! I think for the past two years he has been living in NY, he's probably seen over a hundred shows including Opera, ballet, musicals, orchestra etc! It's crazy! 

Usually, he's able to get excellent Orchestra seats and doesn't always fork our $300-400 for them. Most often, he will snatch up Rush tickets for the orchestra seats at the Opera for only $25. Those are the times that I am most interested to attend with him!

Last week we saw 'Dialogues des Carmelites" where both of us had a nice afternoon snooze (I like the Opera but this one was particularly boring) and this week, we went to see the New Year City Ballet where both of us had big smiles on our face and even let out some laughter as it was interactive too! It was soooo good. I'll try to find more info about it and share!

Going to the Met Opera tomorrow. I feel classy just thinking about it!

Going to the NY Met Opera for the first time to see Don Giovanni by composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

I was just reading the synopsis and going through the picture gallery and found these:
