nykeiko #TBT: One picture, many thoughts...

I found this picture of Dave and me. We took it at a mock up photobooth inside a Sephora in Times Square. We were on a date or just playing around. Probably ate ramen nearby (probably Totto ramen) or just decided to walk through Times Square because we wanted to.

The date was on July 11, 2011. We had been together for a little less than two years. Let's see... We were living in our first apartment in Williamsburg and pretty content with life. Just dating and enjoying being independent adults. No plans of marriage or kids. We were maybe already shopping for apartments which was a serious move for us. We were looking at purchasing as well since paying over $2,000 for a one-bedroom apartment was pretty excessive. It's probably my fault because I just HAD to have the washer/dryer inside the apartment :) And who doesn't love having elevators??

I didn't own an iPhone back then looking at the little Spongebob phone accessory sticking out of my pocket. It was probably attached to my Sony Ericsson phone I brought from Taiwan. I bought Dave that Obamao t-shirt while I was in Beijing. A nice thoughtful 'buddy' gift because we were just friends before I decided to move to New York city in 2010 :) He doesn't wear it anymore though.

I don't think I have discovered sample sales yet because I remember overpaying for that Alice and Olivia top at Bloomingdale's. What I did discover is shopping at Bloomies like Rachel Green.

I want to look through more oldies pictures and remember my own thoughts back in that moment in time.

One Piece, One Thought: Crystal baguette ring

Judith Leiber crystal baguette ring

I wore this ring maybe only once about two years ago for a July wedding. I shouldn't neglect my jewelry like this. I like how it glams up my hand instantly while I wore it with an all-black outfit. I didn't have my engagement ring at that time so it was the only sparkly thing thing I owned. Now my engagement ring is my go-to bling ring but really, I want to mix things up more often but for convenience sake and minimum effort always gets the best of me.

nykeiko wears: One Piece, One Thought...Tom Ford

Tom Ford

These Tom Ford Whitney are my very first designer sunglasses I purchased on my own (cuz my momma once bought me a pair of Gucci sunglasses back in high school. They made me look like Ozzy Osborne and I barely wore them. Sad thing was, I picked them) back in college. I did a lot of research before settling on these ones and finally purchased them brand new on eBay since I couldn't really afford $400 sunglasses. They were significantly cheaper on eBay and I remember messaging the seller, who sold hundreds of sunglasses, to swear to me that they were 100% authentic. I think I paid less than half for them but I cannot remember. Over the years, I've acquired 3-4 more pairs of sunglasses and kind of neglected these ones. I had worn them for many years and loved them except they always sat on my cheeks and left an imprint every time but since they were my only pair, I kept wearing them. I recently decided to let them go and it was easier to do so by selling them on eBay so I could make a little bit of money off them. I am glad I did since I was holding on to them for the wrong reasons. They were one of my first designer purchases almost ten years ago, and that's me getting emotionally attached to my clothes. I can't believe I sold them for $80.
