Hi
It has been so long. I feel like I owe this space a nice long post and some TLC. Yesterday on my way back from a work trip, I thought I would have some time to do some writing on the train but the ride was so vomit-inducing, I could not do it. Instead, I was on my phone and watched Instagram stories for way too long. My total screentime was 7h+ yesterday!
Back in August, we attended our first Beyonce+Jay Z "On The Run" concert and naturally, I was very, very excited to booty shake all night long to my Queen B.

A breather...
Finally a breather and some time to blog. Eating home-cooked meal for the first time after two weeks feels wonderful. I made ratatouille last night and tonight, I made mapo tofu and an Asian squash soup with salted eggs. Simple and delicious!
We flew back from Hawaii on Saturday afternoon and we were picked straight up from the airport to attend a wedding in Massachusetts that same evening. The wedding was in the middle of a garden near horsies at Hancock Shaker Village. The air was clean and crisp but so chilly which was a complete shock for my body which has been acclimated to Hawaiian warmth for so long. Yes, take pity on us.
We stayed overnight and got back into the city on Sunday with only a couple of hours to spare before heading to Central Park Summerstage to see Alt-J. I was pretty tired but eager and excited about being back in the city again! The concert was only okay due to many reasons. Someone spilt beer on me earlier in the night (though I was unphased by it), cigarette and weed smokers all over and EVERY person around us were chatty during the concert, simply uninterested in the concert making the whole night unbearable for me. The set ended earlier than we expected (I guess Alt-J only has one album anyway) so I was looking forward to getting a bowl of ramen at the new Ippudo in midtown. A hot bowl of noodles on a chilly night. Perfect.
And finally, we got home just before midnight ...crawled into our own bed... sad to be away from paradise but content to be back home. We missed home.

We went to the Nickelback concert to see BUSH !
So here is a video of Bush playing 'Glycerine' and some pics!
I checked the crowd, Gwennie and kids were not present I don't think.
First off, we got free tickets to the Nickelback concert at Madison Square Garden so we were able to just go and leave as we please without feeling too guilty..Even though the tickets were free, we weren't sure if we wanted to see a Nickelback concert until... we found out that Bush was opening for them (along with two other rock groups we have never heard of) and decided that we wanted to go see the show! However, we left right after Bush performed, before Nickelback even started. I feel slightly bad but the only song I wanted to hear from Nickelback - You Remind Me- was set to be played near the end of the show and I just didn't want to sit through the entire thing while the bf had no desire to stay at all.
Set list for Bush at MSG April 19th 2012:
1. Machine heads
2. The Sounds of Winter
3. Everything Zen
4. The Chemicals Between us
5. Come Together (Beatles Cover)
6. Little Things
7. Glycerine
8. Comedown
It was interesting to see how many different songs from Bush Dave and I knew and I realized that most of the songs he knew, I was not familiar with. When D did some research, we realized that some songs that made it to the top of the charts in the US never really made it in Canada and vice versa. For example, Dave has never heard of 'Swallowed' but it was much played on Much Music in Canada right? It would be interesting to see if the set list changes during his performances in Canada targeting le Canadians audience :)

Lykke Li at Central Park Summer stages Aug uno 2011
Pics taken from web
Lykke Li is an amazing artist and her lyrics come straight from love, experience and life. I had the priviledge of seeing her perform live at Central Park after all these years of listening to her music (on loop!).
She played a few of my new favs including 'Sadness is a blessing' and 'Love out of Lust' from her latest album. Hearing her older hits such as 'Dance Dance Dance' and 'Little Bit' lifted my spirits at the end of a tiring work day and fatigued by the hot humid weather that night. She played 'Possibility' on the piano to end her concert which is also one of my favs.
Vironique, another big big fan of hers came all the way from Montreal to see her. She was a joy to dance dance dance (or jump) around with during the concert!
